Ok long description please take the time to read this....
This is a picture I have drawn in memory of a lovely young colt we used to own called "Tommy".
The story behind Tommy is that my parents an I bought him when he was around 1 years old.He was a loving caring little guy and used to follow us around the field like a dog.When he reached 3 and a half years old we began to break him in,walking im a lead rope,placing saddle pads and eventually saddles on his back.My mum had damaged her back in a car accident we were all in when i was around ten years old so as a result didn't want to risk "backing him" and doing herself damage.I was around 14 years old when Tommy was being broken and although i would have loved to have tried to back him myself my mother wouldn't allow it in case anything happened to me.So we sent him away to be professionally broken in....However the people we sent him to mis-treated him.We heard back eventually that he had been beaten and hobbled in a stable for weeks and when he was transported in the horse box he had reared up and his head had gone trough the horse box roof.All of this and a series of other horrible events had lead Tommy to become nervous and aggressive towards every one.We immediately took him back and began the slow process of trying to settle him down......This never happened.The loving Tommy we had once known was now a broken shell of a horse who would flee from any one who approached him.My family came to the decision heart breaking as it was that we would have to put him to sleep as we couldn't even get the vet or black smith close enough to look after him.This broke every ones hearts and this is all I feel I can do to show my love for him.
